The concept began as a means of recreating the gestural lines of sketching within a painting. Thread is the chosen medium to create these lines and is often applied in the early stages of the work. Laid horizontally, thread is spooled out, loosely placed upon the canvas. It is then, gently moved by poking and rolling, causing strands to separate and bind. By its physical nature, the thread aids in the gestural quality of the works.
